The Illinois Animal Welfare Federation presents Euthanasia by Injection training for animal shelter and animal control workers. This workshop meets the training requirements for the Animal Euthanasia Specialist license in the State of Kentucky. It is also approved training in Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Registration is limited to those working in companion animal welfare and control. First preference will be given to Kentucky applicants.
Euthanasia means a humane and stress-free end of life for the animals in shelter care. The IAWF intends to provide those workers who must euthanize the proper training in a supportive and compassionate environment to attain that desired result.
In this workshop, you’ll learn about anesthetics and legend drugs, anatomy, proper restraint, injection techniques, equipment, worker safety, legal requirements and verification of death. Instruction will be through lecture, discussion, demonstration, videos, and hands-on lab work. You’ll watch and perform injection techniques and animal euthanasia.
Tuition is $225 for Kentucky residents and $325 for out of state attendees. Your tuition covers a meal both days and 16 hours of professional classroom and hands-on training. You also receive a comprehensive workbook, materials, and, upon passing the workshop exam and participating in the wet lab, a certificate verifying you successfully completed this training.
Payment not made online must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the event. Registration is not complete nor seat reserved without payment.
Cancellations at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the event will receive a refund less a $25 cancellation fee. Registrations may be transferred to another open class with a $25 transfer fee. Cancellations after seven (7) days prior to the class or failure to attend will not receive a refund or transfer.
